Red Buds (L. cercis) are small deciduous trees or large shrubs with simple, rounded leaves. Their pinkish-red flowers emerge every spring on bare, leafless shoots. They are native to warm, temperate regions. In the USA, they often grow in the foothills of California and Texas.
